Have you ever dreamed of a really nice cafe, with the smell of brewing coffee filling the air and a cozy atmosphere that makes you want to stay all day long? Recently, we found a local that fulfills those wishes, featuring modern paintings as well as an industrial interior with the touch of wooden textures.
Filosofi Kopi is the Indonesian phrase for “Coffee Philosophy”. It was first featured in a book and movie of the same title and has become a hit ever since. Also known to the Jakarta locals as one of the most happening coffee stores in town, Filosofi Kopi exploits its fame by delivering good coffee and excellent service to its customers. To make the brand friendlier, it even innovates an interaction between customers and the store by providing empty cups to draw on.
The baristas recommended their signature Affogato coffee (40.000 IDR / 2,70 USD), which features black coffee and durian (a fruit known for its very strong smell). They also provide snacks and desserts as the coffee’s accompaniment, with their signature potato wedges as their main hit.
We ordered an iced cappuccino and a hot cappuccino (both 33.000 IDR / 2,20 USD). By ordering normal coffee, we wanted to taste how good the coffee was and, man, I tell you that it was excellent! The iced cappuccino was served in a glass bottle with a straw, while the hot cappuccino was served in a black cup and a matching plate, following the whole industrial theme of the interior.
We also ordered a waffle with chocolate sauce, but it turned out that they ran out of waffles (?) and they offered us pancake instead, to which we agreed. A portion consisted of three layers of warm pancake served with chocolate sauce and chocolate ice cream. Super delicious!
To conclude, with an average price (compared to similar coffee shops in Jakarta) but with really good coffee, really good food, and really good service, we can confidently say that we’re definitely coming back to this place 🙂
